POLICE SEEKING SUSPECTS WHO CONNED CASHIERS
Lockport Chief of Police Warren Vedros is asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects who allegedly conned two local store clerks into providing too much change at their registers.
On January 2, officers responded to the Rouses Supermarket located at 1428 Crescent Avenue in reference to a complaint. Officers discovered that an unidentified male and female subject approached a cashier asking for change for a $50 bill. In what police believe was an attempt to confuse the cashier, the man began changing his mind several times on the amount of change he was requesting, handing the cashier different bills as he changed his mind. Eventually, the subjects left with a total of $150. Investigators believe this same couple may be responsible for a similar incident that occurred at another Lockport store in August 2013 wherein $136 was missing from the register.
Police are asking anyone with information on the suspects or their location to contact Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433 or by texting “GIVEATIP” plus your message to 274637. Tips can also be submitted using the TipSubmit Mobile application or online at www.crimestoppersbr.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00 in cash if the information given leads to an arrest.
